Product Description
Discover the tranquil charm of northern Kyoto Prefecture on a one-day journey from Osaka or Kyoto to two of Japan’s most scenic and culturally rich destinations: Amanohashidate, one of Japan’s “Three Scenic Views”, and Ine Funaya, a historic fishing village where traditional boat houses line the quiet waters of Ine Bay.
This tour blends panoramic natural beauty with cultural exploration, allowing you to take in seasonal scenery, unique architecture, and centuries of heritage — all in one seamless itinerary.
Highlights of the Tour
Amanohashidate – “Bridge to Heaven”
- Panoramic Chairlift or Monorail Ride
Ride up to the observation deck via chairlift or monorail (based on personal preference or ability) for sweeping views of the pine-covered sandbar crossing Miyazu Bay. - “Crotch View” Experience
Try the quirky and traditional way to view Amanohashidate: turn your back to the bay, bend forward, and look between your legs. The land formation appears as a bridge stretching into the sky, giving this scenic spot its poetic name — “Bridge to Heaven.” - Cultural Significance
Beyond its natural beauty, Amanohashidate is rooted in Japan’s mythology and spiritual heritage. Visit Chionji Temple, home to the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, making it a popular site for students and scholars. - Seasonal Beauty Year-Round
From spring cherry blossoms and summer greenery to vibrant autumn foliage and quiet winter landscapes, Amanohashidate transforms with the seasons.
Ine Funaya – Japan’s Floating Village
- Traditional Boat Houses (Funaya)
Ine’s iconic boat houses are built directly on the water, with the first floor used to store fishing boats and gear, and the second floor serving as living quarters. Over 200 of these rare wooden homes line the coast. - Living Maritime Heritage
The village preserves its traditional lifestyle, with locals continuing to rely on fishing. This authentic atmosphere makes Ine one of Japan’s officially designated “Most Beautiful Villages.” - Cruise on Ine Bay
Board a sightseeing boat and glide past the floating homes to admire the unique architectural harmony between sea and shore. - Peaceful, Photogenic Setting
The calm bay waters, wooden houses, and forested hills create a dreamlike scene that is especially magical in early morning light or at dusk — ideal for photography enthusiasts.
