Full Description
Step away from the bustle of Tokyo and into the serene world of Zen. This special experience takes place at a private temple, closed to the general public, offering a unique and authentic opportunity to connect with Japanese spiritual culture.
Your experience begins with a warm welcome and a brief introduction to Japanese Zen Buddhism and temple etiquette. A local guide will accompany you, offering cultural context and seamless translation throughout.
Once inside the temple, a monk will explain the principles of Zazen, the seated meditation practice central to Zen Buddhism. Learn breathing techniques, posture, and the mental discipline involved in quieting the mind. Then, engage in a focused meditation session in the stillness of the temple surroundings.
After the meditation, take part in a traditional matcha tea ceremony and enjoy the calm reflection this moment brings. You’ll also have the opportunity to engage in open conversation with the monk, ask questions, and learn more about Zen philosophy.
At the end of your visit, you’re welcome to take photos with the monk and within the temple, preserving the memory of this rare cultural immersion.
