Departing from Sapporo – Seasonal One-Day Journey into Hokkaido’s Hidden Beauty

Discover the breathtaking coastline of the Shakotan Peninsula and experience the charm of Otaru’s historic canal district. Highlights

  • Cape Kamui – The Forbidden Cape
Known for its mystical lore as a once-forbidden place for women, Cape Kamui offers a seasonally-limited view of Hokkaido’s most dramatic coastlines. Witness the surreal blue of the sea — locally known as Shakotan Blue — and marvel at the strange rock formations carved by nature.
  • Shimamui Coast – One of Japan’s Top 100 Seascapes
The untouched beauty of this cliff-lined coast is unforgettable. From its panoramic views to the unique rock structures, the natural grandeur of Shakotan is on full display.
  • Otaru Canal – Romantic Waterfront Town
Stroll along the nostalgic canal area of Otaru, lined with historic warehouses, music box shops, glass studios, and quaint cafes. The atmosphere is especially photogenic and relaxing.
  • Optional Lunch at Cape Kamui
Enjoy a meal with a view at your own expense. Choose from seafood rice bowls, noodle soups, or Japanese-style set meals. The area is known for fresh sea urchin dishes at affordable prices.

Guest Reviews

“The highlight of the tour was Kamui Cape — simply breathtaking! The scenery is surreal, and it’s worth the climb even for older guests, though be prepared for uneven trails. Otaru was also charming, especially the Music Box Museum. Highly recommend this tour.”

“The weather was beautiful when we visited Cape Kamui and Otaru. The van was spacious and comfortable, and the guide and driver were professional and helpful throughout.”

“Stunning views and a great day out. The sea urchin rice bowl at lunch was a highlight! Otaru’s shops were lovely but a bit too long if you’re not into shopping.”
