Full Description
Start your morning with a smooth departure from Tsurutontan Soemoncho at 8:00 AM, and head north toward the coast of Kyoto.
Your first stop is Amanohashidate, a sandbar stretching across Miyazu Bay and lined with over 5,000 pine trees. When viewed from above, it appears to bridge heaven and earth. You’ll have the option to visit Amanohashidate View Land via monorail or chairlift (850 yen, own expense) and even try the thrilling “sky bicycle”, offering unmatched panoramic views.
Close by is Chionji Temple, a tranquil Buddhist site where visitors seek wisdom by drawing fan-shaped omikuji (fortune slips). You can also walk across Kaisen Bridge, a rotating bridge that allows boats to pass, or stroll along the peaceful Amanohashidate Beach. During this segment, you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch at one of many local eateries (at your own expense).
Next, continue to Ine no Funaya, a charming seaside town famous for its 200+ traditional boat houses. These homes, with boat garages below and living quarters above, line the waterfront and create a picturesque “floating village” scene. You may also opt to take a sightseeing boat ride (1,000 yen) for an up-close view of these unique homes from the bay.
As your tour wraps up, relax on the return ride to Osaka, filled with new memories of Japan’s coastal culture and serene beauty.
