About the Product

The camera focuses on basic functionality: point, shoot, and capture. The Automatic Scene Mode handles all the technical settings, allowing the user to focus on composition. Its 5x zoom covers a popular range for travel, suitable for wide landscape shots and medium-range portraits.

A significant benefit is the use of two standard AA batteries (alkaline, lithium, or rechargeable NiMH), which means you never have to worry about a dead proprietary battery pack—simply grab new AAs from any convenience store in Japan.

Faqs:

What is the typical battery life if I use the included alkaline batteries?

When using the included alkaline AA batteries, the camera is rated for approximately 200 still images. If you use high-quality lithium AA batteries, the battery life significantly increases to approximately 730 frames, making lithium a highly recommended option for extended use.

Can the COOLPIX A10 record video? What is the quality?

Yes, the camera has a dedicated video recording button. It records movies at 720/30p (HD) quality in AVI format, which is suitable for casual sharing of travel video clips. It also includes an electronic image stabilization function to help keep your handheld videos steady.

How does the “Automatic Scene Mode” work?

When the camera is set to Automatic Scene Mode, it instantly analyzes the scene (e.g., Portrait, Landscape, Night Scene) and automatically adjusts all the camera settings—like shutter speed, ISO, and flash—to optimize the image quality for that specific scenario.

I only know basic camera settings. Is this model difficult to use?

Not at all. The COOLPIX A10 is designed for maximum ease of use. You can leave it in Automatic Scene Mode almost permanently and simply press the shutter button to get good results. There are very few complicated settings to worry about.

What type of memory card should I use for this camera?

The camera supports standard SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards up to 128GB. For video recording, Nikon recommends a card with an SD Speed Class of Class 6 or higher to ensure smooth capture. We include a 2GB card with the rental.
