Product Details / Description:

The SIGMA 150-600mm Contemporary lens is built to make long-range photography accessible and enjoyable. It provides the reach previously restricted to heavier, more expensive lenses, enabling tourists to capture intimate images of distant subjects without being noticed.

About the Product

The optical construction consists of 20 elements in 14 groups, utilizing special low-dispersion glass to minimize chromatic aberration across the zoom range, maintaining excellent image quality even at 600mm. The Optical Stabilizer (OS) uses an acceleration sensor to intelligently correct for camera shake, making your shots sharp when shooting handheld, especially at twilight or lower shutter speeds.

The inclusion of the MO (Manual Override) switch allows for rapid manual adjustment after the autofocus has locked, giving the photographer precise control. The lens comes equipped with a removable tripod collar for stable use on a monopod or tripod when needed.

Faqs:

Is this lens truly manageable for a full day of handheld shooting while traveling?

While it is a powerful super-telephoto, it is significantly lighter than the comparable “Sports” model (1,930g vs. 2,860g). The built-in Optical Stabilizer is designed to maximize handheld performance, making it much more suitable for extended travel use than other lenses in this focal range.

Can I use this lens on an APS-C camera, and what will the reach be?

Yes, this lens is compatible with Canon APS-C cameras. When used on an APS-C body, the focal length is effectively multiplied by approximately 1.6x, giving you an immense reach equivalent to 240-960mm, which is fantastic for extreme wildlife spotting.

What does the MO (Manual Override) function do?

The Manual Override (MO) function allows you to quickly switch to manual focus (MF) by simply turning the focus ring, even while the lens is in continuous autofocus (AF-C) mode. This lets you override the AF system for precise, critical focus adjustments without having to flip a switch.

Teleconverters are not available for rental. How much reach am I losing?

The native 600mm focal length is substantial for almost all travel needs, providing tremendous magnification. While a teleconverter could extend the reach, the 600mm range combined with the potential for APS-C use (up to 960mm equivalent) provides more than enough telephoto power for most tourists.

If I customized the lens using the USB DOCK, what must I do before returning it?

If you have used the optional USB DOCK (which is not included in the rental) to adjust focusing parameters or update firmware, you are required to perform a factory reset of the lens settings before returning it. This ensures the lens is returned to its standard, neutral configuration for the next user.
