Kumakawa did not use classical scores for Cleopatra. Instead Kumakawa used the music of Carl Nielsen, a composer from Denmark. The music was played live by the Theater Orchestra Tokyo. The ballet is about the life of Cleopatra VII. It is about her desire to be in power also her romantic relationships. The ballet shows how Cleopatra VII dealt with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony.
