About the Product
The heart of the system is the 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, powered by the DIGIC X image engine, delivering superb image quality. Its standout feature is the Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, which uses every pixel for both focusing and imaging, ensuring speed and accuracy across nearly the entire frame. The camera can intelligently detect and track subjects (people, animals, and vehicles) automatically.
The RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM lens is compact for its class and features a powerful Image Stabilization (IS) mechanism to compensate for camera shake, crucial when shooting at long focal lengths. The use of a smooth, fast Nano USM motor allows for quiet and quick autofocus performance.

Faqs:
Is this camera set complicated for a first-time user?
No. The EOS R50 is designed for ease of use. It features an “auto” mode with helpful visual guides and simple touch controls. You can focus by tapping the Vari-angle LCD screen, making it very straightforward to operate while you learn more advanced settings.
How much magnification can I get with the 100-400mm lens?
Since the R50 uses an APS-C sensor, the lens’s focal length is effectively magnified by 1.6x. This means the 100-400mm lens provides a powerful range equivalent to 160mm to 640mm on a full-frame camera, giving you incredible reach to photograph distant subjects clearly.
Will my photos be blurry when shooting at 400mm (640mm equivalent) handheld?
The RF100-400mm lens features a robust Optical Image Stabilization (IS) system. While technique is always important at extreme focal lengths, the IS significantly minimizes camera shake, making it much easier to achieve sharp, clear photos and video even when shooting handheld.
Can the camera track moving people or animals accurately?
Yes, the Canon R50 uses the highly effective Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with EOS iTR AF X. This system uses deep learning technology to recognize and track subjects like people, cats, dogs, birds, cars, and motorcycles across the frame, keeping them sharp during high-speed continuous shooting.
Can I use this camera to make vlogs or high-quality travel videos?
The R50 is excellent for video. It records 4K video at 30p (oversampled from 6K for superior quality) and Full HD high frame rate video for smooth slow-motion. The Vari-angle screen can flip forward, making it perfect for self-recording and vlogging, though note that 4K videos are cropped.
