About the Product

One lens that truly replaces three: wide for landscapes and temples, standard for street photography, and short telephoto for portraits and details. The incredible close-focusing ability turns it into a pseudo-macro lens for food, flowers, and crafts, and details in Japanese markets.

Despite the variable aperture, the built-in 5-stop stabilizer and excellent performance on R-series bodies make it surprisingly capable even in low-light shrines and evening streets.

  • Center Focus Macro mode with 0.5× magnification (manual focus)

FAQs:

Is this lens sharp enough for large prints of my Japan trip?

Yes – especially between 24-70mm and when stopped down slightly, it delivers very good sharpness even on high-resolution bodies like R5.

Can I shoot macro photos of food and souvenirs?

Absolutely – switch to manual focus at 24mm and you can focus as close as 13cm for almost 1:2 macro shots.

Is the variable f/4-7.1 aperture too slow for low light?

The excellent 5-stop IS and modern sensor performance make it very usable indoors and at dusk. Most travelers never miss the faster aperture.

Will it work on my Canon RP, R10, or R8?

Yes – fully compatible with every Canon RF body, APS-C and full-frame.

Is this lens small enough to carry all day?

At only 395g and pocketable when retracted, it’s the lightest 24-105mm ever made – perfect for all-day exploring.
