Full Description

Experience the magic of Kyoto before the city wakes up. This tour—offered by foot or by e-bike—takes advantage of the early morning calm to explore Kyoto’s most treasured locations in peace and quiet.

Start in central Kyoto near Pontocho, a historic geisha district with narrow alleys and a classic Kyoto atmosphere.

Cross the Kamo River and enter Gion. Here, enjoy the serene beauty of Shirakawa Canal, lined with willow trees and stone bridges. Visit Tatsumi Shrine, a quiet spot often visited by maiko and local celebrities, before heading down Hanami-koji Street with its preserved wooden townhouses.

Next, ascend to Hokanji Temple to photograph Yasaka Pagoda, an icon of Kyoto’s skyline.

You’ll then visit Starbucks Kyoto Ninenzaka, a one-of-a-kind café located in a preserved 100-year-old townhouse. Enjoy a coffee on tatami mats—an experience unique to Kyoto.

Climb Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, historic paths once used by pilgrims heading to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Capture stunning shots of Kyoto’s old-town charm.

The tour concludes at Kiyomizu-dera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your guide will explain its cultural and historical significance before letting you explore on your own. Enjoy sweeping views from its famous wooden stage and experience Kyoto in the soft morning light.

“Although the Gion area is usually crowded, there were very few people on this tour, so I could enjoy it completely. Highly recommended for anyone who prefers peaceful sightseeing.”
