FOUR MINUTES – The 4‑Minute Pianist – is the Japanese staging of a musical that premiered in South Korea in 2021. The musical is adapted from the 2006 German film Vier Minuten, released in English as Four Minutes and directed by Chris Kraus. The story follows a piano teacher who works with prisoners and a gifted young inmate whose talent is matched by her anger.
Kei Aran, a top star of the Takarazuka Revue Star Troupe who marks 35 years in entertainment in 2026 plays the teacher Kruger. The role of the prisoner Jenny is double‑cast between Natsumi Kon and Meimi Tamura both established leads in musical theatre. Runa Hayashi of Nogizaka46 also joins the company and Yoshie Inaba directs.
FOUR MINUTES is stage at Theatre West, a mid‑sized theatre than a large commercial house. The performance runs without an intermission with a pianist on stage. The Osaka dates are limited to 10 and 11 January 2027 so the Tokyo run in December 2026 is the opportunity to see the production.

Theatre West is a mid‑size playhouse inside the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre arts complex. Theatre West seats about 800 people. However, Theatre West is usually use for stage plays and musical shows. Theatre West is not very large so the audience sits close to the performers. The complex is in Ikebukuro, Toshima ward, Tokyo. The complex is a few minutes on foot, from Ikebukuro Station. Ikebukuro Station is serve by the JR Yamanote Line, the JR Saikyo Line, the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, the Yurakucho Line, the Fukutoshin Line, the Tobu Tojo Line and the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. Theatre West looks over Ikebukuro West Gate Park.
Umeda Arts Theater, Theatre Drama City, Osaka
Theatre Drama City is a theatre with around 900 seats. It mainly hosts musicals and stage plays. It is a stop in Osaka for touring productions. The theatre is located in the Chayamachi district of Kita ward Osaka. Also, it is five minutes walk from Hankyu Umeda Station on the Hankyu lines. It is also a walk from JR Osaka Station on the JR Osaka Loop Line. It is also close to Umeda Station, on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line. The Chayamachi shopping area is the well-known landmark.
