Step into the timeless charm of Kyoto’s Gion district with a guided walking tour that reveals more than just tourist highlights. Stroll along stone-paved streets lined with Machiya townhouses, pass tranquil shrines, and trace the traditions of Maiko and Geiko (Geisha).
In this 2-hour tour, you’ll visit three of Kyoto’s five hanamachi — the traditional entertainment districts where Maiko and Geiko still live and perform. As you walk, your guide will share insights into Kyoto’s past, Geisha training and culture, and fascinating stories of Japan’s oldest capital.
Learn about the Gion Festival, held for over 1,100 years, and visit its spiritual origin: Yasaka Shrine. You’ll also pass hidden statues, riverside scenes, and historic bridges — all accompanied by context and personal reflections from your guide.
