Stop 1: Atomic Bomb Dome & Peace Memorial Park
Upon arrival in Hiroshima, visit the Atomic Bomb Dome, one of the few structures left standing near the bomb’s hypocenter. A poignant symbol of peace and resilience, it’s an essential stop for understanding Japan’s post-war history. Continue on foot through Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, where you’ll find powerful monuments and the Peace Memorial Museum, which offers deeply moving exhibits detailing the events of August 6, 1945.
Stop 2: Miyajima Island & Itsukushima Shrine
Next, head to the ferry terminal for a short ride to Miyajima Island, famous for its breathtaking scenery and Itsukushima Shrine, a Shinto treasure and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
