What You’ll Experience

This experience is carefully curated for those who have a genuine interest in Japanese aesthetics and traditional arts. You’ll not only enjoy a cup of matcha but immerse yourself in the history and subtle elegance of Chadō—the Way of Tea.

During the session, you will:

  • Learn the cultural and historical background of the tea ceremony
  • Explore various tea utensils and how they’re used and cared for
  • Practice proper tea etiquette and serving techniques
  • Watch a live demonstration that reflects seasonal themes and refined hospitality
  • Prepare matcha yourself with guidance from the instructor
  • Participate in a Q&A session for deeper understanding

The tea used is high-grade Uji matcha, directly sourced from a family-run farm that has cultivated tea since the Bunsei era (1818–1831). The wagashi are specially ordered from a well-known Kyoto confectionery that belongs to the Kyoto Prefectural Confectionery Association.

The ceremony follows traditional principles—tea is enjoyed in silence and mindfulness, free from distractions like photography or sightseeing. This allows participants to focus entirely on the essence of the experience.

Note: This session is intentionally not geared toward casual photo ops or tourist snapshots. It’s a cultural deep-dive, ideal for travelers who want to understand Japan beyond the surface.
