Full Description

Program Features

This cultural experience includes both Japanese traditional sweets making and a tea ceremony. Begin by creating Nerikiri, a refined sweet shaped to reflect the current season. These sweets are made with colored white bean paste sourced from long-established Kyoto producers.

You’ll craft two styles:

  • Flower-shaped Nerikiri
  • Kinton Nerikiri

After a short break, you’ll move into the tea ceremony experience. Using single-origin Uji Matcha, you’ll observe a traditional tea preparation demonstration before making and enjoying your own bowl of matcha.

Your handmade sweets, paired with the smooth, slightly bitter taste of matcha, provide a balance that reflects the harmony of Japanese aesthetics and flavor.

What is Nerikiri?

Nerikiri is a high-grade wagashi (Japanese sweet) known for its beauty and artistry. Crafted into seasonal shapes such as flowers or fruits, the process of coloring and shaping Nerikiri is a creative and calming activity suitable for all ages.
