Discover the artistry and hospitality of the Urasenke tea ceremony in the renowned pottery town of Mikawachi, located in Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture. Begin your experience by choosing your favorite matcha bowl—each a unique, handcrafted piece by the 16th-generation Gassen Pottery.

With your chosen bowl, take part in a traditional Urasenke-style tea ceremony, a graceful practice that embodies Japanese refinement and hospitality. Following the ceremony, the matcha bowl is yours to take home as a keepsake of this personal and cultural moment.

Next, enjoy a premium lunch of authentic Japanese cuisine served in a jubako stacked lunch box made of Mikawachi ware. The beautifully presented dishes reflect the aesthetics and seasonality of traditional Japanese cooking. If you have dietary concerns or do not prefer Japanese food, you can inform the host in advance.

After lunch, take a guided walk through Mikawachi Sarayama, where you’ll learn more about the town’s centuries-old porcelain craftsmanship and rich history. The local pottery scene is renowned across Japan for its delicate white porcelain and intricate blue designs.
