Full Description

This all-season hiking tour takes you away from the bustle of Sapporo to peaceful forested trails and Olympic history. Your guide will meet you at Sapporo Station, in front of “Myomu”, the circular stone monument by the South Exit, at 8:00 a.m..

The day begins with a hike up Mt. Maruyama (225m/738ft), starting at the Kannon Path which features 88 statues of the Buddhist goddess of mercy. Along the way, you’ll explore an old-growth forest, home to squirrels, foxes, deer, and woodpeckers.

The hike is available year-round, with seasonal highlights:

  • Spring: cherry blossoms
  • Summer: comfortable weather
  • Autumn: colorful foliage
  • Winter: snow-covered tranquility (longer duration)

At the summit, glimpses of Sapporo’s skyline can be seen through the trees. After descending around 12:00 p.m., you’ll enjoy a lunch break (not included in the price).

The tour continues with a visit to the Okurayama Ski Jump, used in the 1972 Winter Olympics. You’ll explore the Sapporo Winter Olympic Museum, which features interactive sports exhibits and historical displays. A chairlift ride takes you to the summit observation deck (307m), offering panoramic views of Sapporo and insights into Olympic ski jumping.

Afterward, you’ll return to Sapporo Station via public transport.
