Faqs

Why is the Focus Point VR important for an image stabilization system?

The Focus Point VR is a unique feature that prioritizes image stabilization at the chosen autofocus point, rather than just the center of the frame. This is extremely helpful for ensuring sharpness on off-center subjects, which is common in complex travel compositions.

Does the Nikon Zf support older F-mount lenses?

No, the Zf uses the native Z mount, but F-mount NIKKOR lenses can be attached using a mount adapter (sold separately or inquire about rental). Note that some functions may be limited when using the adapter.

How useful is the pre-capture function for travel photography?

The pre-capture function is incredibly useful for capturing unexpected or fleeting moments, such as a spontaneous street performance or wildlife action. It starts recording images when the shutter button is half-pressed, ensuring you don’t miss the moment that happens milliseconds before you fully press the button.

Can I charge the Zf while traveling using a portable battery?

Yes, the Zf supports charging and powering the camera via the USB Type-C port using a mobile battery, provided you use the included EN-EL15c batteries (or EN-EL15b). This allows you to keep shooting while on the move between Japanese cities.

How does the monochrome mode switching work?

The Zf features a dedicated physical lever that allows instant switching between standard color photo mode, video mode, and a special monochrome mode. This allows for quick creative changes, and the monochrome setting offers three options: standard, Flat, and Deep Tone, for different artistic black and white effects.
