NiSi Variable ND True Color ND Vario 95mm Rental in Japan

Product Summary:

The NiSi Variable ND True Color ND Vario 95mm is a professional-grade variable neutral density (ND) filter available for rental, tailored for filmmakers and photographers using large-diameter lenses in Japan. With a generous 95 millimeter filter diameter, it is perfect for professional cinema lenses and high-end photographic glass.

This filter provides smooth, continuous adjustment of light reduction from 1 to 5 stops (ND 2 to ND 32). It features NiSi’s advanced TRUE COLOR technology, which effectively neutralizes the yellow or color cast common in variable ND filters, ensuring superior color accuracy. A mechanical stopper limits the rotation range, reliably preventing the formation of the distracting “X-shaped” unevenness in light transmission.

Quick Highlights:

• Variable ND Density: Adjustable from 1 to 5 stops (ND 2 to ND 32).
• Large Diameter: 95 millimeters, suitable for professional and cinema lenses.
• True Color Technology: Eliminates color shifts/yellow cast for accurate color.
• Prevents X-Pattern: Hard stopper limits rotation to avoid cross-polarization artifacts.
• Nano-Coating: Suppresses ghosting and flare for clean image quality.

Product Details / Description:

Gain total creative command over exposure, motion blur, and depth of field, even in bright Japanese environments, with the NiSi Variable ND True Color ND Vario 95mm filter. This essential accessory is crucial for achieving professional cinematic results by allowing you to maintain fixed shutter speeds (like 1/50th or 1/60th of a second) regardless of lighting conditions.

About the Product

Variable ND filters work by combining two polarizing layers. The NiSi True Color Vario is distinguished by its specialized optical formulation designed to neutralize the inherent color contamination (yellow/magenta cast) often caused by this interaction, ensuring the colors in your footage are neutral and true. The filter glass also boasts a protective nano-coating that repels water and suppresses internal reflections, minimizing ghosting and flare.

The mechanical design includes a physical stopper on the rotation ring. This stopper is a vital feature for professional video work, as it prevents the filter from being rotated past the maximum usable density, thereby eliminating the unsightly, dark “X” pattern that plagues lesser variable ND filters. For compatibility, please confirm that the filter diameter of your specific lens is 95 millimeters before booking your rental.

Faqs:

What is the benefit of the 95 millimeter filter diameter?

A 95 millimeter diameter indicates this filter is designed for large-aperture telephoto lenses, specialty lenses, and professional cinema lenses which typically have larger filter threads.

How does the 1 to 5 stop range benefit my shooting?

The 1 to 5 stop range provides flexible light reduction, allowing you to instantly adapt to varying light levels simply by rotating the filter ring. This is essential for controlling both shutter speed (for motion blur) and aperture (for depth of field) in bright light.

What does the “TRUE COLOR” technology prevent?

TRUE COLOR technology is designed to eliminate the common color cast (often yellow or magenta) that arises from the interaction of the two polarizing layers in variable ND filters, ensuring your colors are neutral and accurate.

How does the hard stopper prevent the “X-shaped unevenness”?

The hard stopper physically restricts the rotation of the filter, preventing the polarizing elements from rotating into the alignment that creates the optical interference pattern, or dark “X” pattern, guaranteeing image quality across the usable density range.

Can I use this filter to remove reflections, like a circular polarizer?

No, the product notes state that the PL filter effect is nullified. This filter’s function is solely for neutral light reduction and cannot be relied upon to remove reflections from water, glass, or enhance saturation.
