Hosted at Mita Koboji Temple, this private or semi-private 60-minute session is guided by an expert ikebana artist dressed in a traditional kimono.
You’ll learn not only how to arrange flowers artistically, but also the deeper philosophy and symbolism behind each movement and placement. The session includes demonstrations on using floral scissors, handling a kenzan (flower frog), and maintaining proper water levels—all within the peaceful setting of a 24-mat Japanese-style room.
Ikebana, which began as offerings to Buddha, has evolved alongside samurai culture and is now considered one of Japan’s most graceful cultural traditions. This hands-on course is designed to be beginner-friendly, providing a meaningful introduction to both the aesthetics and mindfulness of the art.
This activity is available for individuals and groups up to 20 people. For groups of 21 or more, advance coordination is required.
Note:
Kimono rental is not included, but you may request to wear a traditional Oshima Tsumugi haori (kimono jacket) as an optional add-on. Please indicate this request during your reservation—details will be shared via email.
