This production marks a significant cultural moment as it features the highly anticipated Japanese opera debut of conductor Erina Yashima. Fresh off her Metropolitan Opera debut, Yashima brings her internationally acclaimed baton to vividly portray Verdi’s themes of chance, revenge, and inescapable fate.

Directed by the visionary David Pountney, this four-act opera is performed in its original Italian with both Japanese and English subtitles. Accompanied by the prestigious Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and a combined chorus from Japan’s leading opera houses, this production promises to be a soul-stirring exploration of whether humanity can ever truly outrun destiny.
