Full Description

Step into the world of traditional Japanese craftsmanship with this washi paper-making experience in Asakusa. Begin by watching a short video introduction to the history and process of Tosa Washi, a premium handmade paper with over 1,000 years of heritage known for its strength and beauty.

Next, change into a samue, traditional Japanese work clothes, and begin crafting your own washi paper under the guidance of a friendly instructor. In the Colored Paper Plan, you’ll enhance your handmade paper by choosing from dozens of pre-dyed decorative sheets called Rakusuishi, known for their delicate patterns and vibrant colors. Layering Rakusuishi on your base paper creates a stunning, personalized postcard.

For those who prefer a simpler approach, the Plain Paper Plan offers the chance to make pure, unadorned washi paper, still rich with traditional craftsmanship.

Laughter and creativity fill the room during this enjoyable and beginner-friendly workshop. You’ll leave not only with a one-of-a-kind washi paper creation but also a deeper appreciation of Japan’s timeless artistry.
