Product Details / Description:

The Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT provides professional-grade lighting control and reliability. It is designed to meet the demands of fast-paced event and location photography, where high power and dependable wireless control are essential.

About the Product

Based on its successor, the 600EX II-RT, the 600EX-RT still delivers premium performance, notably its high Guide Number 60 and the robust radio transmission system for wireless master and slave control. This allows photographers to easily build and control up to 5 groups of flashes remotely, greatly simplifying complex lighting setups.

The flash supports E-TTL II for accurate exposure, and its powerful output ensures sufficient light is available whether shooting direct, bounced, or at long distances. Its compatibility with an external power source means recycling times can be significantly reduced when rapid, continuous shooting is required.

Faqs:

What is the difference between the 600EX-RT and the 600EX II-RT?

The primary difference is the continuous firing performance. The newer 600EX II-RT has improved heat management, allowing it to fire up to 1 point 5 times more consecutive flashes before overheating compared to the original 600EX-RT. In terms of power (GN 60) and core features (radio wireless), they are very similar.

Can I use this flash for off-camera lighting?

Yes. The “RT” in the name stands for Radio Transmission. The 600EX-RT features a built-in radio transmitter and receiver, allowing it to function as a master to control other RT speedlites (like another 600EX-RT or 430EX III-RT) or be used as a remote slave unit, offering excellent reliability for off-camera lighting.

What does the external power supply option allow me to do?

The external power supply compatibility allows you to connect a high-capacity battery pack (like the Canon CP-E4N, not included). This significantly reduces the flash recycling time (often down to under one second) and increases the total number of available full-power flashes, which is critical for rapid sequence shooting.

What does the Guide Number of 60 mean for my photography?

A Guide Number (GN) of 60 indicates a very powerful flash. In practice, this means the flash can illuminate subjects effectively from a greater distance, or it can provide stronger, softer light when bounced off high or distant ceilings, giving you more creative flexibility with your lighting.

Does this flash automatically zoom to match my lens?

Yes, the 600EX-RT automatically adjusts its illumination angle (zoom head) to match the focal length of the lens you are using, ensuring the light coverage is maximized and efficient. The compatible range generally covers 20 millimeter to 200 millimeter.
