Explore one of Osaka’s most vibrant neighborhoods, Shinsekai, on an immersive evening walking food tour. Taste up to 15 authentic dishes across five different venues including izakayas, standing bars, and street stalls. Led by a local bilingual guide, this experience takes you beyond the tourist trail and into the true “Kitchen of Japan.”
Your evening begins in the nostalgic streets of Shinsekai, one of Osaka’s most character-filled districts. Often overlooked by visitors, this area blends old-world charm with buzzing street life. Your local guide will lead you through five specially selected eateries known for their authenticity and flavor.
Start at a kushikatsu restaurant, where skewered and fried meats and vegetables are served golden and crispy. Pair them with a drink and the area’s signature doteyaki—beef tendon simmered in sweet miso.
Continue with bold-flavored karaage (Japanese-style fried chicken) and roasted garlic cloves, followed by a visit to a renowned takoyaki vendor where you’ll enjoy Osaka’s iconic grilled octopus balls with your choice of toppings.
Next, stop at a cozy yakitori restaurant, sampling skewered meats grilled over charcoal and accompanied by lightly pickled vegetable sides and another drink.
Your final stop is a lively standing bar where you’ll warm up with comforting bowls of oden and Osaka-style udon, two soul-satisfying dishes steeped in local tradition. The evening wraps up with a sweet Japanese-style dessert to complete the journey.
Throughout the tour, your guide will share local stories, food trivia, and cultural context, giving you a deeper appreciation of the culinary soul of Osaka.
