Full Description

Beneath Tokyo’s reserved exterior lies a thriving LGBTQ+ culture. This guided tour offers a rare glimpse into both the honne (true face) and tatemae (public face) of Japanese society through the lens of queer history and nightlife.

Begin your journey in Asakusa, a neighborhood rich with historical significance, where you’ll hear about Japan’s evolving relationship with its LGBTQ+ community. Your guide will share personal and cultural insights into how acceptance has changed across generations.

From there, travel to Shinjuku Nichome, the heart of Tokyo’s LGBTQ+ nightlife. Walk the neon-lit streets lined with hundreds of gay bars, cafes, and clubs — most of which only locals know how to access.

Along the way, enjoy a light Japanese dinner (vegetarian options available) and two drinks: one at dinner, and one at a local LGBTQ+-friendly bar. The evening is filled with meaningful conversations, new friendships, and a celebration of queer identity in Japan’s capital.

Whether you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community or a supportive ally, this tour offers a fun, educational, and authentic experience in Tokyo’s most colorful districts.
