Full description

Experience the elegance and charm of Kyoto’s traditional performing arts. Watch an authentic Kyomai performance by a geiko or maiko in the Inoue school style — a rare opportunity to witness these graceful dances up close. Each session features two songs, with performances lasting approximately 15 minutes.

Typically, one maiko or geiko performs in each session, though some later sessions may include two performers for an enhanced experience.

In addition to the performance, explore the museum’s permanent exhibition dedicated to Kagai culture. View exquisite items such as:

  • Hand-painted Yuzen kimonos
  • Nishijin brocade obi belts
  • Kanzashi hair ornaments
  • Black crested formal kimono
  • Maiko makeup kits and seasonal accessories

Photographs and displays further immerse visitors into the elegant and secretive world of Kyoto’s geiko and maiko.

Note: In Kyoto’s Kagai districts, the term geiko is used instead of geisha. Maiko are apprentices training to become geiko.
