Full description

Begin your experience at Nishiki Market, a historic food hub that has served Kyoto for over 400 years. With over 130 food stalls and shops, the market is a paradise for food lovers. Guided by a local expert, sample traditional Kyoto flavors such as tofu skin, local home-style dishes, Hamo (Japanese pike conger eel) tempura, and juicy WAGYU steak skewers.

After indulging in Kyoto’s famous bites, explore nearby cultural sites. Visit Nishiki-Tenmangu Shrine, dedicated to the God of Education, then wander through vibrant shopping streets filled with both traditional and modern stores.

Next, stop by Takoyakushido Eifukuji Temple, a small but culturally rich Buddhist temple tucked into a shopping arcade — a glimpse into how spiritual heritage is integrated into everyday life in Kyoto.

Continue your walk to Kyoto Takashimaya Department Store, where you’ll explore the basement food floor. This area is famous for high-end pastries, seasonal treats, gourmet snacks, and classic Japanese delicacies. Your guide will also reveal hidden photo spots perfect for Nintendo fans.

Optional Add-On:
After the food tour, you can join a 90-minute traditional Japanese tea ceremony. The experience includes kimono dressing and a detailed, guided tea ritual led by a professional tea master. You’ll also have time for commemorative photos in a beautifully preserved setting. Choose the tea ceremony option when booking.
