Full Description

This immersive walking food tour kicks off near Karasuma Oike Station, where you’ll meet your guide and begin a culinary adventure through Kyoto’s lesser-known (but richly flavorful) side.

Our first taste? A comforting bowl of Katsudon—Kyoto style—before stepping into the bustling Nishiki Market. Known as “Kyoto’s Kitchen,” this market offers a treasure trove of local ingredients and snacks.

From there, we’ll dive into:

  • Yuba Tofu – a silky Kyoto specialty
  • A surprise Secret Dish
  • A curated sake tasting – learn the difference between Ginjo and DaiGinjo
  • Freshly made Japanese fishcakes – unlike anything you’ve tried before
  • Seasonal fruit Daifuku mochi from one of Kyoto’s oldest artisan stalls
  • Seared Wagyu sushi – a street food legend in the Kansai area

After exploring Nishiki, we’ll visit the Tenma Shinto Shrine and stroll along the scenic Kamo River and Pontocho district—Kyoto’s historic dining alley.

In Gion, we’ll relax at a cozy eatery and savor a local-style Okonomiyaki. To end on a truly Kyoto note, you’ll enjoy a premium matcha green tea, hot or iced, at a top-rated tea house.
