Product Details / Description

The Sony Alpha 9 III (ILCE-9M3) (Body Only) is engineered for absolute speed and reliability, making it the definitive tool for documenting any dynamic event or scene during your trip to Japan. Its capabilities extend far beyond conventional cameras, ensuring you never miss a critical moment, no matter the lighting or speed of action.

About the Product

A major benefit of the Global Shutter is the complete elimination of rolling shutter distortion, which is essential when photographing fast-moving trains, cars, or traditional Japanese dance performances. Furthermore, the camera supports high-quality 14-bit RAW recording in all still image modes and offers “pre-shooting,” allowing you to record images up to one second before fully pressing the shutter button.

For video, the Alpha 9 III is equally impressive, offering 6K oversampling for sharp 4K and 4K 120p recording without any crop—a first for the Alpha series. Coupled with professional color profiles like S-Cinetone and S-Log3, it’s ready for cinematic travel vlogs.

Faqs

What is the biggest advantage of the Global Shutter for a tourist?

The Global Shutter completely eliminates the rolling shutter effect, which prevents image warping when panning quickly or capturing fast-moving objects like vehicles or trains. This ensures your high-speed video and continuous burst photos are perfectly clean and distortion-free, which is essential for dynamic travel in Japan.

Can I use this camera for video, or is it strictly for still photography?

The Alpha 9 III is an exceptional hybrid camera. It records high-quality 4K video, including the ability to shoot 4K 120p without any crop, perfect for slow-motion cinematic effects. It also includes S-Cinetone and S-Log3 profiles, making it highly suitable for professional video production of your Japanese travels.

Why is flash synchronization at all shutter speeds important for photography?

Flash sync at all speeds, including the maximum 1/80000 seconds, means you can use flash fill in bright daylight conditions without being limited by slow sync speeds. This is crucial for controlling light and achieving perfectly balanced exposures when photographing subjects outdoors in Japan.

Are memory cards included that can handle the high continuous shooting speeds?

The rental includes a 64GB SDXC card. However, to consistently achieve the maximum 120 fps continuous shooting rate and fully leverage the camera’s speed, you will need to use a high-speed CFexpress Type A memory card, which is the recommended format for professional use with this camera.

Does the camera have an internal wired connection for fast file transfer?

Yes, the Alpha 9 III is equipped with a wired LAN terminal supporting 1000BASE-T communication. This feature is highly beneficial for professionals who need to quickly transfer large image or video files from the camera to a laptop or network while on location.
