Immerse yourself in the art of Japanese tea culture during a traditional tea ceremony set in a historic Kyoto teahouse with views of a serene garden designed by a master landscape artist.
Step into a peaceful corner of Kyoto at a traditional tea house located near Kiyomizu-dera Temple, in the historic Sannenzaka district. Begin your experience by entering a gate that leads to a stunning garden designed by renowned landscape artist Ogawa Jihei VII.
After being welcomed by your instructor, settle into the tranquil ambiance and listen to a brief introduction about the 500-year-old history and significance of the tea ceremony in Japanese culture.
Then, observe a tea master as they demonstrate the refined and graceful steps of matcha preparation. Following this, you will be guided in preparing your own bowl of matcha using traditional tools and methods.
Enjoy your freshly whisked tea along with a carefully selected Japanese sweet that complements the flavors of the matcha. After the ceremony, take a photo with your group in front of the elegant garden backdrop—a keepsake of this serene cultural encounter.
