Full Description
This magical evening walking tour begins in front of Kyoto’s Minamiza Theater, a well-known landmark on the edge of Gion. From there, your local guide will lead you into Hanamikoji Street, Gion’s famous geisha district, where traditional wooden teahouses line the stone-paved streets.
As you walk, your guide will explain the intricate traditions of geisha culture, including surprising customs and little-known facts that even many locals don’t know. With a bit of luck, you may catch a glimpse of a Geiko (Geisha) or Maiko (apprentice Geisha) heading to an engagement.
The tour continues with a stop at a matchmaking shrine and a beautifully lit Buddhist pagoda, offering stunning nighttime photo opportunities. Your guide will gladly take your photo here if you wish.
